For much of her life, Sidney was a homemaker, but in Boulder she worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block. She became an avid golfer, and volunteered as a greeter at Coal Creek Golf Course where she was an original member of the Coal Creek Golf Course Women's Association . She also volunteered with the Boulder County Safehouse, and as a peer counselor helping people with their finances. She had a warm, welcoming sense of hospitality, and loved cooking and gardening.
